The County Clerk serves as the secretary for the Board of County Commissioners, has various duties relating to the maintenance and preparation of the tax rolls, setting property tax levies and assisting in the annual preparation of budgets for over 40 townships, 3rd class cities and special districts in the county. 

The County Clerk  also serves as the County Election Officer and handles all duties related to voter registration and elections. 

Other duties include, but are not limited to, accounts payable, payroll, sales of fish & game licenses, boat permits, house moving permits, cereal malt beverage licenses, budget accounting, grant accounting, homestead and food sales tax refunds, real estate transfer recording, and other record keeping.
