Overview & Services

The County Road Superintendent supervises the County Road and Bridge Department that constructs and maintains 850 miles of gravel road, 75 miles of asphalt road, 75 miles of dirt/minimum maintenance roads and 158 bridges in Morris County, encompassing 700 square miles in the heart of the Flint Hills.


Morris County has 10 motor patrol districts: 2 each at Council Grove, Dwight, and White City; and 1 each at Latimer, Delavan, Burdick and Wilsey. Each is responsible for approximately 100 miles of road.


The Road and Bridge Department is responsible for:

·                        Road and bridge construction plans

·                        Providing information on road plans and right of way

·                        Right of way mowing and cleaning

·                        Inspection, repair and replacement of bridges

·                        Snow removal

·                        Establishment and posting of speed limits

·                        Sign design installation and repair

·                        Construction, repair, resurfacing & road maintenance
