Minutes 02/27/09 The Morris County Commissioners met on Tuesday, February 27, 2009, at 9:00 a.m.; all members present.
After reviewing the county’s current policy on meal reimbursement, Commissioner Hay moved (Revere) to increase the meal allowance from $6.00 to $10.00 per meal, or a maximum of $20.00 per day, effective March 1st. Employees will be reimbursed for meals while in the course of county business and outside the county. Motion carried.
Commissioners declined an offer to purchase several items of equipment from Capital Equipment.
The minutes of the February 10th and 17th meetings were approved (Hay, Revere) as corrected.
Commissioners attended a preconstruction conference on county bridge project 64 C-4268-01. Work is expected to commence on the project next week.
The road supervisor gave the weekly report of his department. He was authorized (Revere, Hay) to request bids from contractors to chip/seal approximately 20 miles of roads scheduled for maintenance this year. The project will include G Avenue west from White City to Hwy 77.
It was noted that approximately $4 million is being allocated to the North Central Kansas Highway District II from the recently passed stimulus package. Morris County is one of 16 counties in the district competing for project funding consideration.
A monthly department head meeting was held. A request for direct deposit was made and will be reviewed.
The county clerk was authorized (Revere, Hay) to submit an application to Access Kansas which gives county officials authority to access various records and information at the state level. The annual fee is $95.00.
Several tax abatement orders were approved and signed.
John Lee gave the weekly noxious weed and solid waste reports.
