Commissioner Hay moved to accept Cook, Flatt & Strobel’s quote of $50 per bridge to conduct the county’s biennial bridge inspection project.  Commissioner Revere seconded the motion which carried.   The total cost will be $7,900 for 158 bridges.   BG Consultants had submitted a quote of $75 per bridge.

The minutes of the April 28 meeting were approved (Hay, Revere) as corrected.

Commissioners received a response from Jim Reagan, Morris County Hospital Administrator, that an office space will be made available at the health department building for the Emergency Management Coordinator.

Ed Teghtmeyer, road superintendent and Marvin Barlow, road foreman, gave the weekly highway report.  Additional right-of-way will be required on the Rock Creek Bridge project (64 C-4570-01).   The county will also have to contract for construction inspection services on the project.

In determining the amount of crushed rock needed this year, a history of the amounts used the prior three years was reviewed as follows:

The highway department was authorized (Revere, Hay) to purchase a digital camera.

Commissioner Jost requested that Brenda Bell write a letter to Charles Rayl regarding a road issue.  Bell is representing the county in the matter.

Commissioners reviewed a draft of the county employee manual and made revisions as needed.  Department heads will also have a chance to provide input before the manual is adopted.
