Minutes 03/09/10

March 9, 2010

 

 

The Morris County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 9:00 a.m., Commissioner Hay was absent.

 

Jennifer Kassebaum, emergency management coordinator, gave her weekly report.  March 7-13 has been designated as “Weather Awareness Week”.  State-wide tornado sirens will be tested on Thursday, March 11th.   Kassebaum is working on a table top training exercise to be conducted at White City on March 26th.  The exercise will involve a railway hazardous material spill accident.  The county received a $2,000 grant to fund the training session. 

 

The contract with the Corp of Engineers was renewed for this year’s law enforcement patrolling at the Council Grove Reservoir.  The county will receive $16,375 for 604 hours of patrolling from March 14 through September 25.

 

The minutes of the February 23 and March 2 meetings were approved (Jost, Revere) as written.  Motion carried.

 

John Lee gave the weekly solid waste and noxious weed department reports.

 

Jeff Blosser, road engineer, gave the weekly report of the road and bridge department.  A preconstruction conference on the Rock Creek bridge project (64 C-4570-01) will be held on March 11th.

 

Kenny Hiegert was in to let the commissioners and road engineer know that he and others will be available to haul gravel if the county additional trucks are needed.

 

County Resolution No. 2010-06 was adopted and passed (Jost, Revere) authorizing the county to file a judicial foreclosure action to collect delinquent real estate taxes.  Motion carried.
