The Morris County Commissioners met on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 9:00 a.m.; all members present.
Bud Orr reported a road at 2300 Rd and V Ave needing gravel. The road engineer will look at the area.
Shelly Lautt gave the weekly road department report because the road engineer was working on chip/seal projects.
The minutes of the July 6 meeting was approved (Jost, Hay) as presented. Motion carried.
Jennifer Kassebaum, emergency management coordinator, gave her weekly report. The E911 aerial photography contract with Sanborn is being reviewed prior to approval. The armory and the Burdick Methodist Church have been inspected and designated as storm shelters by the Red Cross agency.
Marty Wright reported a problem with bull thistle and asked that the weed be designated by the county as a noxious weed. The request will be taken under consideration.
Sharon Pittman, county appraiser, and William Kassebaum, county counselor, reviewed the Kansas Court of Tax Appeals order denying its decision to order the county to reappraise the properties at the Council Grove City Lake.
The county counselor was directed (Jost, Revere) to appeal the decision to the Kansas Court of Appeals. Motion carried two votes to one. Commissioner Hay voted against the motion.
