Entrance & Culvert Guidelines

These guidelines are for entrances on all county maintained roads.  Entrances within city limits are governed by City or Township boards.

County Entrance Policy:
All entrance/culverts/ or improvements on the County Road Right-of-Ways shall be approved in writing by the Morris County Road Department, using the attached application, prior to any work being performed.

First Entrance:  The County shall furnished and install one (1), twenty (20) foot entrance per parcel of land; with or without a pipe at no cost to the landowner.  The size and type of entrance and culvert, if necessary, shall be at the Road Department Supervisors discretion. 

Modified Entrances:  If the Landowner wishes to have a longer entrance at the first location, on any parcel, the landowner shall fill out the attached modification application and submit it to the Morris County Road Department.  The County Road Supervisor shall determine the size and cost of the entrance modification and supply the landowner with a written estimate.  The landowner shall pay for any costs associated with the entrance modification prior to the work be performed.  This applies only to entrances in excess of twenty (20) feet, in length.

Additional Entrances:  If the Landowner wishes to have a second, third, or more entrances installed on any single parcel of land; then the landowner shall fill out the additional entrance application; pay for the associated costs for those extra entrances.
 

Summary of steps to have culvert or entrance work performed:

  • Fill out the appropriate entrance application: (New Entrance Application or Existing Entrance Application)
  • Submit the entrance application to the Morris County Road Department
  • The County Road Dept. shall provide an estimate of costs to the landowner.
  • The landowner shall make payment to the Morris Co. Road Dept. for any costs, associated with the entrance work.
  • The Road Department shall schedule the entrance construction.
