Hours of Operation:
- 8:00 am till 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday except on all approved county holidays.
- The Recycle Center at 614 US-56 Council Grove KS. All recycling can be brought inside the building during business hours 8:00am-4:00pm
- Tubs and a cage are located outside the Recycle Center for use after hours. We ask that all cardboard be broke down and all items placed in appropriate bins. If you have items pre-sorted you may leave them bagged
The Recycle trailer picks up from businesses and drop locations for the following:
- Monday and Friday - Council Grove
- Tuesday - Herington. With every other Tuesday - Burdick or Wilsey
- Wednesday - Alta Vista
- Thursday - Dwight and White City
Items We Accept:
These following items are accepted for pick-up:
- Newspaper,
- Magazines
- White Paper & Office mix (colored paper) and shredded paper (bagged, not loose)
- Aluminum beverage containers only. We do NOT accept aluminum foil, (any cans with the plastic lining) I.e. aluminum cat food cans/dip cans/ sardine cans, aluminum baking pans or food containers.)
- Tin cans
- #1 Pete plastic (clear)
- #2 HDPE (milk jugs)
- #2 & #5 Colored Plastic
- Cardboard (NO Pizza Boxes or other cardboard that is greasy or has a wax coating) All cardboard needs ot be dropped off at the Recycle Center. There is not a trailer for cardboard located at the Transfer Station.

Waste motor oil can be brought to the Recycle Center
These following items are accepted at the Transfer Station:
- Scrap metal
- Lead Acid Batteries
- Scrap aluminum
Items We Don’t Accept:
- Styrofoam
- Kleenex/Paper towels
- Rubber gloves (surgical gloves)
- Packing peanuts
- Paper plates
- Waxed milk or orange juice cartons
- Greasy cardboard (i.e. pizza boxes)
- Glass
- Food
- Clothing
- Vinyl
- Wood
- Fiberglass
- Electronics
- Film Plastics (trash bags, grocery bags, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, chip bags, etc)
- Books, Hard back or soft back

Please save and bring only items that your local recycling facility accepts. This saves room in your home and reduces labor at the recycling center. Preparing and sorting your materials as requested reduces labor and provides a safer work environment for recycling center employees.
